How did I compare Candy AI and OurDream AI?
I paid for Candy AI’s monthly plan and OurDream AI’s Standard plan for about three months each, then checked what I saw against each brand’s terms, refund policy, privacy policy and help center. Every number below comes from those pages or from my own accounts. Support response times are not tested on either app.
This comparison sits in our AI girlfriend app comparisons, written by Nina Castell, with the method on how we test. Full write-ups: the Candy AI review and the OurDream AI review.
Searches like “ourdream ai vs candy ai” and “our dream ai vs candy ai” mean the same two products: candy.ai, run by EverAI Limited, and ourdream.ai, run by Dream Studio USA, Inc. Candy sells tokens and OurDream sells dreamcoins, so I convert both to dollars.
How do Candy AI and OurDream AI compare side by side?
Candy AI is cheaper per month and per voice minute, with unlimited text. OurDream AI has image editing, a 14-day refund window, crypto payments, in-app deletion and coins that do not expire. Both train on your input, neither solved memory, and OurDream’s filter is stricter.

Which costs more, Candy AI or OurDream AI?
On the monthly plan, Candy AI costs less: $13.99 against $19.99, a gap of $6.00 a month or $72.00 over twelve months. Billed yearly, OurDream falls to $9.99 a month, below Candy’s monthly price. Candy’s yearly US-dollar price is not one I could capture, so that comparison stays open.
| Months you stay | Candy AI monthly | OurDream AI monthly | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $13.99 | $19.99 | $6.00 |
| 3 | $41.97 | $59.97 | $18.00 |
| 6 | $83.94 | $119.94 | $36.00 |
| 12 | $167.88 | $239.88 | $72.00 |
OurDream’s annual plan is $119.88 upfront, just under six monthly payments ($119.94), so it only wins if you stay six months or more. I started both monthly and would repeat that. On Candy, intro and renewal pricing can differ, so check the subscription date.
What is a token worth next to a coin?
A Candy token is worth about seven OurDream coins in money terms. Candy’s $13.99 for 100 tokens is $0.14 a token, and OurDream’s $19.99 for 1,000 coins is $0.02 a coin. This charges the whole plan price against the credits. Both plans also include unlimited text, so the bias is the same on both.

What does a month cost for a light chat, image-heavy or voice-call user?
It depends on your mix. A text-only user pays $13.99 on Candy or $19.99 on OurDream. An image-heavy user gets about 200 standard images from OurDream’s 1,000 coins, while Candy publishes no per-image cost. A voice-call user gets about 33 minutes on Candy and 20 on OurDream. These examples are my arithmetic, not a log of my use.
Light chat user: text only
Both apps give unlimited text on a paid plan, so the credits mostly go unused. Candy’s 100 tokens expire each billing period. OurDream’s 1,000 coins do not refresh and do not expire, so they build up: three monthly payments cost $41.97 on Candy against $59.97 on OurDream, and the OurDream account would hold up to 3,000 unspent coins. For this user, Candy is the cheaper fit.
Image-heavy user
OurDream publishes image prices. Standard images cost 10 coins for 2, so 1,000 coins buy 200 images, about $0.10 each at the plan price. A heavier mix of 100 images (500 coins), 30 Spark edits (300) and 20 enhanced images (200) lands exactly on 1,000 coins.
Candy does not publish an image price in tokens where I could read it, so I cannot build that mix. I can set a limit: to match OurDream’s $0.10 an image, Candy would have to charge about 0.7 of a token. At one token or more, OurDream is cheaper per image.
My Candy note says 100 tokens go quickly if you regularly generate images, videos or use voice calls. On OurDream, 10 five-second videos use the whole 1,000, and one 60-second video lists at 1,200 coins, about $23.99 at the monthly rate.
Voice-call user
Candy charges 3 tokens a minute, which I saw in my own account, so 100 tokens cover about 33 minutes: $13.99 for 33.3 minutes is about $0.42 a minute. OurDream charges 50 coins a minute, so 1,000 coins cover 20 minutes, about $1.00 a minute.
Take one 10-minute call: 30 tokens on Candy (30% of the month) or 500 coins on OurDream (half of it). Three such calls cost 90 tokens, inside Candy’s 100, but 1,500 coins, which is 500 over OurDream’s allowance. OurDream sells extra coins to subscribers, but I could not read pack prices, so I cannot price the gap.

Which has the better free tier?
Candy AI, narrowly. Its terms let a free user send a maximum of 5 messages to AI characters. OurDream’s help center says it offers no free dreamcoins. Neither is generous, and both want a paid plan for anything beyond a sample.
Candy’s terms of service say free users may “generally” send up to 5 messages. OurDream lets you browse without an account, but chatting needs one, free chats cost 1 coin, and the help center says non-subscribers cannot generate images or video. One review site, roborhythms, reports 55 one-time coins on free accounts. No official page I read says so, so do not plan around it. More options are on our no sign-up AI girlfriend list.
Do tokens and coins expire?
Candy’s subscription tokens expire at the end of the billing period with no carry-over. OurDream’s coins do not expire while you subscribe and do not refresh monthly. Cancelling changes that: OurDream’s cancellation article says old unused coins are not restored if you resubscribe, so spend them first.
Candy’s tokens are also non-transferable and not refundable for cash. OurDream removes unused coins after a refund and when you delete your account. Its coin refresh article and cancellation article disagree about a lapse. In my use coins did not expire, and I count that as one of OurDream’s best points.
Which has better chat and memory, Candy AI or OurDream AI?
For regular chat, Candy AI. In my use its conversations were engaging, character customisation was one of its better parts, and text is unlimited. OurDream offers a choice of chat models, which makes it more customisable, but conversations could get repetitive. On both apps, long-term memory is not solved.
Long-term memory means the character remembers earlier chats. A large language model (LLM) only reads what fits in its context window, the tokens it can process in one prompt, per Google’s ML glossary. Neither brand publishes how its memory works. On Candy the character sometimes repeated things or lost track of earlier conversations. On OurDream, memory needs work.
Which is better for images, video and voice?
OurDream is better for experimenting: it generates and edits images, and publishes what video and voice cost. Candy’s image quality is a strength and its voice is cheaper per minute. Both offer video, but only OurDream lists the price, 100 coins per 5 seconds.
Images and image editing
Candy’s image quality is a strength, but the same face across generations is not guaranteed. Its Premium page also lists a “Full Live Action Experience”. I have no notes on it. OurDream’s image generation plus editing was one of the most interesting parts, so you can adjust a picture instead of starting over. Reference-photo uploads are not allowed there, per its help center.
Video and voice
Candy lists “Generate 18+ Videos” among its Premium benefits and charges tokens, with no published cost. OurDream lists video at 100 coins per 5 seconds, ultra-quality “listed at 200 coins” with no unit, and 20 coins per second of added audio. I have no notes on voice quality for either app.
Which app has the stricter filter?
OurDream’s. In my use its moderation flagged harmless content and interrupted normal conversations, and it was the most frustrating part of the app. Candy’s moderation sometimes interrupted prompts too, but it depended on the prompt, and Candy was not completely unrestricted.
OurDream’s help center admits that its filters over-flag safe content and says the strictness is required by third-party payment providers. Candy’s blocked content policy states zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material and content resembling minors. I could not find Candy’s full NSFW wording, so I cannot compare the two lists line by line.
Which has the easier refund, and how do you cancel?
OurDream’s refund rules are easier. It runs a 14-day quality guarantee judged case by case, while Candy asks for a request within 24 hours and denies it if you used more than 20 tokens. Candy refunds only card purchases, and OurDream refunds no crypto payments.
| Rule | Candy AI (terms) | OurDream AI (refund policy) |
|---|---|---|
| Request window | 24 hours after payment | 14 days |
| Usage cut-off | Denied above 20 tokens used | None above 25% used (help article) |
| Payment types | Card purchases only | Cards in 5 to 10 business days, crypto final |
| EU and UK rights | Refund less a prorated amount, within 14 days of notice | 14-day withdrawal right in the EEA, UK and Switzerland |
| Chargeback | Cancels the subscription, revokes tokens | May suspend the account |
| How to cancel | Settings, then Unsubscribe | Profile, Cancel subscription |
Candy’s 20 tokens is about six and a half minutes of calls at 3 tokens a minute, so stay under that in the first 24 hours if a refund might matter. OurDream’s 25% rule does not say what it measures. If it means coins, that is 250 of 1,000, or 5 minutes of calls, but that is my reading, so ask [email protected] before you spend. Both stay active to the end of the paid period after you cancel.

How do privacy, training and deletion compare?
Both apps use what you type to improve their AI, and both say they will not sell your data. They differ on deletion. OurDream has a delete-account button on the profile page that takes 24 to 48 hours. Candy has no in-app steps I could find: you request erasure under its privacy notice.
- Candy AI: the privacy policy adds human review of de-identified interactions, flagged chats may be reviewed by staff or partners, and data is kept typically three years after your last activity.
- OurDream AI: the privacy policy lists training AI models among its purposes, and staff see chats only with consent or a lawful request, per its safety site.
Breaches in this niche are why I use a separate email. Have I Been Pwned records that a Muah.ai breach exposed 1.9 million email addresses alongside image prompts, and Malwarebytes reported that two companion apps leaked 43 million messages. Neither involved Candy or OurDream, and I know of no breach at either. See is Candy AI safe for more.
Where does Candy AI win, and where does OurDream AI win?
Candy wins on price, voice cost and plain chat. OurDream wins on image editing, published costs and policies that give you more room. Each also has real weaknesses, and none of these points is a score. Which side matters depends on what you will actually use.
Where Candy AI wins
- Monthly price: $13.99 against $19.99.
- Voice calls: about $0.42 a minute against about $1.00.
- Regular chat: unlimited text, good customisation, and the best value for regular chatting in my experience.
- A free sample: up to 5 messages.
Candy’s weaknesses: tokens expire each period, the refund window is 24 hours, per-feature costs are unpublished and I found no image editing.
Where OurDream AI wins
- Image editing and published costs: a help-center guide for every action.
- Coins that do not expire while you subscribe.
- Room on refunds: 14 days against 24 hours, plus crypto and in-app deletion.
- A cheaper year: $9.99 a month billed yearly.
OurDream’s weaknesses: the over-sensitive filter, voice and video burning coins fast, a higher monthly price and no official free coins.
Which should you pick? A decision tree by use case
Pick Candy AI if you mostly chat, make voice calls or want the lowest monthly price. Pick OurDream AI if you want image editing, video with published prices, crypto or a longer refund window. If you are unsure, follow the steps below and stop at the first answer that fits you.
- Do you mostly want text chat? Yes: pick Candy AI, $6.00 a month cheaper. No: go to step 2.
- Do you want to edit images, not just generate them? Yes: pick OurDream AI, the only one of the two with a listed editing tool. No: go to step 3.
- Will you make voice calls? Regularly: pick Candy AI, about $0.42 a minute against $1.00. Rarely: either works.
- Do you want video? Yes: OurDream lets you price it first. Candy has video too, but no published cost.
- Do you need a long refund window, crypto or in-app deletion? Yes: pick OurDream AI. No: go to step 6.
- Does a strict filter bother you? Yes: pick Candy AI, which had less friction in my use. No: either works.
- Still undecided? Start with Candy’s monthly plan or its free 5 messages, and move to annual only once you know you will stay.
Candy’s cost detail is in the Candy AI pricing breakdown. OurDream savings are in the OurDream AI promo codes guide.
Which one would I keep paying for?
Candy AI. It is the one I would keep paying for, because text is unlimited, the monthly price is lower and voice calls are cheaper. OurDream is the better second app for media: image editing, voice and video, if you accept the fast coin burn and the filter.
If you want both, they cost $33.98 a month at list prices. Try Candy AI for chat or OurDream AI for media. The wider field is in our AI girlfriend app guide and the AI girlfriend reviews.
Do I earn money from Candy AI and OurDream AI?
Yes. I may earn a commission from both brands if you sign up through the buttons and links on this page. It costs you nothing extra and changes no price or rule I print. Our affiliate disclosure has the full terms.
Both brands run affiliate programs, so a commission difference does not explain my picks: each app wins the rows it wins on price and features. If I got a number wrong, tell me on the corrections page.
